Letter from Departing PTO Chair....

Dear All;

It is with great pleasure I can announce that Linda Feureubach and Suzanne Otterbein will be taking over as Co-Chairs for Manchester Memorial PTO. We will be having our final meeting of the school year on Thursday June 5th at 9am so please come and let them have your support.


They have lots of great ideas and enthusiasm to help revitalize our PTO. Along with them we will have some new committee chairs and many old ones returning. I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make the last two years so productive and successful. You can check out the web site for more info.

We would still love to fill these two positions before the end of the year to complete the PTO 08/09 team...

School Store Chair - to take over from Phillippa Wilson who has done such a wonderful job getting the school store up and running smoothly and successfully. Our store and store merchandise has never looked better and Phillippa needs someone to take over. This includes liasing with the supplier, organizing a team to run the store, choosing product lines, working with PTO treasurer to stay on budget etc. It is a great opportunity to meet people in the community and help out with your marketing skills!

Magazine Fundraiser Chair - We are still looking for someone who can help get word out regarding the PTO Magazine Store that is constantly open and a great way to raise funds.

Dont forget all your hard earned funds raised go towards maintain our very 'enriched' enrichment programs throughout the year, specific and special classroom projects or needs (ie hydroponic lights for 4th grade, etc), specific school capital improvements (ie helping finish the theater with lighting, sound system, projector system etc.), providing and funding various events to encourage school spirit and fun, teacher classroom funds to help finance sundries within the classrooms, families in need (helping with specific financial crisis or on an ongoing basis providing backpacks, clothing, grocery cards etc.) and many more individualised projects throughout the school year. Our spending each year can be as much as $30k so all your fundraising and hard work goes to good causes.

Help us make your PTO the best it can be...

Thank you for the last two years - they've been fun, hilarious, frustrating, emotional, surprising and most of all made me smile - I have seen parents step up and meet the challenges of juggling kids, work, home and the PTO and each day I have found an example of someone going that extra mile to help out. Thank you to you all who have helped me out during the last few years especially when I was overwhelmed! (Megan - I couldnt have done it without you.)

Other news includes the PTO funding of the new Serving Counter for the cafeteria at Memorial School. This will be a cold plan serving counter and will allow the cafeteria to serve cold cuts, sandwiches, more fresh vegetables etc. for the children. This will be available only to 5th and 6th graders on a trial basis. We are thrilled to be able to help with this improvement to lunches at Memorial and wish them every success with the implementation of the serving counter.

 

The PTO will also be funding the 5th grade girls 'period pieces kits' again this year and we will also fund the 5th grade 'boys bags'.  The PTO store is currently updating its product lines to bring you some new and interesting this Fall. We are looking at T-shirts, baseball Tee's, jogging shorts, tanks for girls, beach towels and more! So stay tuned. We will be phasing out online orders and encouraging purchases through the in school store next year while we reevaluate our supplier and bid out to new vendors.

 

The In School Store is now open every Tuesday afternoon in the lobby from 2.45-3.15pm. Stock up on your favorite water bottles, coffee cups, glass tumblers, beanie hats etc.

 

 

What's wrong with wearing our hearts on our sleeves!

We are desperately seeking someone to run the store and coordinate volunteers - please contact us if you are interested!

Chair for PTO Magazine Fundraising.

This is a very low maintenance position that requires someone to manage the flow of information to parents. We really need someone who will grab this by the horns and give it some promotion. It's an easy way for us to earn money but it needs more PR. Perhaps some flyers in backpacks and other ideas welcome. Please contact Kate Schwartz if you are interested.
